Houseplants: When greenery invites itself home

As silent as they may be, our potted friends have found their way in our homes and they are here to stay.

If you are reading this, chances are you live in an urban area and if you do, you may have little to no space and especially time to create a garden. Let alone take care of it regularly.

Then enter houseplants.

They are usually small, potted plants that are easily transportable from one room to another. Anyone can get one; if you cannot get a grown one, you can get seeds to grow it altogether. There is no set direction to go with this and that fun of it.

They allow you to play the apprentice botanist while witnessing the birth and growth of a living organism that also happens to provide a little oxygen. It’s a win-win situation.

Houseplants can also become a sort of therapy where you just relax and water down your plant; you can check if it’s doing well or plan to move it to a new spot and play the interior decorator for a few hours. They can ease your mind and help you disconnect from stressful triggers.

Now if you are trying for the first time, it might go one purchase at a time and a rather simplistic way to add it to your room’s decor but if you’re a passionate one, it can get eccentric very quick.

Décor, with plants, as outlandish as they may get, ultimately offer a more relaxed aesthetic. No matter many plants you decide to buy for your apartment, it will never make the environment as tensed as let’s say, an office in a big and bustling city.

The worst that could happen is the room being so crowded it resembles a nursery, but don’t we all love nurseries?

All I’m saying is that it’s refreshing to see more and more people buy plants and care about them. I understand many of us are trying to add something new to their homes and most importantly, something that is alive.

Living in urban areas and are surrounded by concrete can be hard so adding a minimum of greenery can bring a change to the scenery.
